Wonder Woman is a 2017 American superhero film based on the DC Comics.

Title Sequence Details

The opening title sequences' speed of title display is quick, however not so quick that the audience cannot read all the information in time before it disappears. The title are displayed on screen for an average of 3-6 seconds depending on the length of the title. The opening title sequence revolves around a theme of fire and war, shown through all the flames, orange and red colour, sparks and ashes. The entire opening title sequence is a total of 2 minutes 23 seconds in length.

Director

The film opens with the director title, immediately indicating who directed the entire film. The director coming first indicates that they are the most important.

The opening sequence is very fast-paced, vibrant and colourful, containing many technological connotations to the modern day. The titles that appear throughout, are around 2-3 seconds in length, not giving the audience much time to read it, however its appropriate as majority of the titles are very short.

Title Sequence Details

The opening title sequence consists of no colour, only being black and white. The entire sequence is 2:03 in length and is very slow paced, but seeming this is a horror movie, it suits the genre. The titles that come up throughout the sequence are anywhere from 3-7 seconds in length, obviously depending on how much there is to be read.

Before any major titles are presented, we are shown two families, potentially showing that this is based of a true story.

Inspiration

The Purge: Election Year (2016)

This film is an American horror, thriller film written by James DeMonaco and directed by Jason Blum and Michael Bay. It is the third installment in the Purge franchise and the sequel to 2014's The Purge: Anarchy.

This film has inspired me because of the variety of costuming that the film uses to portray the idea that, 'You are free to do what you want'. The various combinations of costumes with the somewhat terrifying masks creates a sense of tension and horror because it's not necessarily considered normal and therefore gives the film that horror theme because you don't know what's behind the mask and you don't know what's going to happen. The lack of identity reinforces the thriller aspect because you don't know what the person will do and the idea that a convention of horror can still be depicted through silly costuming is really interesting and unique.

Friday the 13th (2009)

Friday the 13th is an American Slasher film. The 2009 installment of the film in the franchise is directed by Marcus Nispel and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The theme within the franchise is that a group of teenagers are hunted and killed by the antagonist, Jason Voorhees, who seeks revenge for his mother who was brutally    murdered, from which he exerts his anger on his victims.

A constant within the franchise is that Jason will always be extremely tall, agile and strong. He is mainly known for always wearing a hockey mask to hide his identity from others and also known by his most favorable weapon, a machete, which he uses to kill his victims.

Friday the 13th (2009) - Full Trailer

I gained inspiration from this film or franchise because it has a defining factor. Jason is defined by the hockey mask and the bloody machete which makes him who he is. People know what he has done and who he is because of his defining characteristics. In my thriller I too aim to have characteristics that define my antagonist by what he does and what he wears, which will make him known.

Hush (2016)

Hush is an American 2016 slasher film directed and edited by Mike Flanagan. The plot of the film is about a deaf woman called Madison Young, played by Kate Siegel, who is attacked in her home, which is isolated in the woods. The idea that Madison is deaf and cannot hear her attacker is the key thrilling element in this film.

This film has provided inspiration for mine primarily because of the location. Even though there is a lot of action occurring throughout the film, I really enjoy how yet its only based in one small location, a lot of action can still be presented in one small setting. In my film I intend to mainly base it in a single location, which will decrease the production complexity of the film and make the viewing stage easier for the audience. This way the audience can pay more attention to the action rather than the setting because there's not much to it and there's not a lot going on. On top of this, during the production stage more attention can be applied to the content in the film rather than the setting.
